The P-3 Orion first flew in 1958 as a long-range anti-submarine aircraft. Several versions have since been built including those with advanced search and radar equipment mounted on the rear fuselage. The retardant-dropping model has been fitted with a 3000 gallon tank to deliver its slick payload.
