2023 Flat Fire, OR

The Flat Fire has burned more than 30,000 acres on the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest. Incident Command Posts were located in Gold Beach and Agness, Oregon.
I served as a TFLD at the fire on the northeast flank, where resources worked for weeks to improve and secure proposed control lines and check lines. This work included the difficult task of removing hazard trees and brush for days and days. Local, professional falling teams and crews did great work that may not be tested - the fire "held up" in the drainage below our division and firing ops were cancelled.
