2023 Iron Creek Fire, Washington

The human-caused Iron Creek Fire began on June 3 and burned 17 acres around the popular Iron Creek Campsites and Picnic Area in the Gifford-Pinchot National Forest.
Western Washington Incident Management Team 3 was mobilized to help the local ranger district order and manage hand crews, engine crews, and an expert falling module from the Oregon coast. The fire was contained within 9 days as crews mitigated hazards overhead and underfoot as they worked to control the fire.
I served as a public information officer for 12 days at the Iron Creek Fire.
